I had this crazy idea that I would go outside for a run this morning– I was up and moving, and then I checked the weather widget and it said 35 degrees out and I said no way. So I went to the gym and did the treadmill and it was adequate. I did another short and fast run, this time in my old, supporting shoes. Different. Still good. I’m enjoying the challenge of running faster– when I’m done I feel energized rather than exhausted, it takes a shorter amount of time, and I’m not beat to heck and cold. (Yes, this was a thing– when I’d finish a 4 or 5 mile run I would be so cold! I’d take a hot shower but still be chilled the rest of the day.) And I took time to stretch, and I think I’ll sneak out for a little bit this afternoon and go to a stretchy yoga class too… even when I stretch after running, my back-of-leg complex tightens up again sitting at my desk. So I have to stretch throughout the day.
It would be awfully nice to be able to run outside in the cold though– I should look into some gear for chillier weather.
