I was so excited to go to the gym today– but I wasn’t sure if it was because I wanted to go lift, or that I was happy to have a day when I didn’t have to run. :) Regardless of motivation, I threw myself into the lifts with gusto, but I felt wimpy. Everything was hard. Maybe I was just having an off day, but it might also be the effects of really only doing one lifting workout a week catching up with me. (The hasty dumbbells on Tuesdays barely count.)
There are only so many hours in the day and I’m not cutting back on my running training, so I’ll just have to pick serious lifting back up in a couple months. If I’m lucky I won’t lose too much upper-body strength– I’ll be very pleased if I can maintain what I’ve got now. Tradeoffs! Bleh.
On the Tumblrs I saw a gif of a lady with a magnificent booty doing squats, ostensibly demonstrating proper form. (I’m willing to bet that 95% of the people who saw the picture didn’t care one bit about her squat form.) Today I did my squats carefully in front of the mirror and checked– not sure about the magnificent booty part, but my form is A-OK, at least.
