Long runs, out of doors

Since I think I’d rather eat my sports bra than do another 5 mile run on the treadmill, I packed up warmer socks and a thermal undershirt and took my workout outside. It was still a bit chilly, maybe 40-45 or so, but it was worth it to escape the monotony of the treadmill.

I haven’t run down to the park in a while, but it was nice. Plus, that’s where the 5k next week is being held, so my visit did double duty– I could scout the course a bit and refresh my memory (and remember how the course only went for half a mile or so through the woods– then it was an endless boring paved stretch past empty baseball fields). Plus I got to run past a horse farm and see all the horses being silly. Worth it.

I could really, really use new shoes. My calves are unhappy. But there’s no point in getting them now, and dealing with the uncertainty of new shoes for the race.

It’s funny how people react to temperature changes. It finally hit 40-45 here yesterday and I broke out my shorts!! Good luck with your 5K!

I think I was a little overdressed… once I got going I wanted to chuck my undershirt into the woods. Thanks for the encouragement! I’ll let you all know how it goes on Friday.
