I’m sore in all the usual places today, but I wanted to get some cardio-ish work in, plus I need to think about having at least a little mileage base so I don’t destroy my body come February’s running training. I decided on a short, easy run today, 30 minutes on the treadmill.
But it wasn’t easy at all. My legs were so unhappy and tired! I got through the first mile with significant effort, but after that I needed a couple walking breaks to get to the end, for a total of 2.4 miles.
Last year I transitioned from NRoL4W to running in February, and I found it wasn’t that bad; my legs weren’t fresh but they were strong. I’m not sure the same thing is going to happen this year; although the Stronglifts program doesn’t leave me as sore all over, it leaves me sore in specific places. And NRoL4W definitely had more of a total-body, crosstraining-ish component to it. I guess there’s no point in trying to guess what’s going to happen… I’ll see what happens in 3 weeks when I change over. In the meanwhile I need to be super nice to my body so I minimize any wear going in.
