I’m not sure why last night I decided I should get up early and go for a run before heading to work. I think it had something to do with wanting to go for a swim after work? Not sure how those two things are connected…
Anyway I very reluctantly rolled out of bed at 5:15am, grumped around for a couple minutes trying to wake up, then put on my running shoes and headed out for a 35 minute run. It was actually really nice. It was only 65F and the humidity wasn’t high, so it was a comfortable run in the early light. I passed a few runners (I’m not the only crazy one) and waves were exchanged– so cordial.
I hate running fasted (and without coffee, wtf!) and 25 minutes in I felt the familiar empty gut low blood sugar feeling, but I hung in there and returned to coffee and hemp protein smoothie. Coffee is a great motivator for me.
Now I’m at work and my morning will be uninterrupted by a gym break. I’m in a pretty good mood and I’ve already gotten tons done. Maybe I should make a habit of this!
We’ll see if I actually get to go swimming this evening. The pool’s open until 7:30 but they’ll close if there are thunderstorms. I might also be too tired… and I should keep in mind that HIIT class is early tomorrow morning…
Good for you for getting in a morning run! I was just complaining about how difficult that is. If I could get myself to do that, my life would be so less hectic. I even bought a reflective vest-strap-thingy. It’s even pink! But it’s just hanging on my also-unused steam cleaner. Good job!
Thanks! Like I said in the post, for me coffee is an excellent motivator :) Beating the heat is a good motivator too– it’s so much cooler and nicer in the early morning.
