Sail area

It’s taper week and I’m feeling really lazy. I skipped my long run over the weekend– this entire training cycle was kind of a fail for long runs– and I have a 3 miler on the schedule today. But a front blew through this morning and it’s been blowing 25mph all day (gusting to 50!) Fun times.

Anyway, I did get outside for 3 miles in 36 minutes flat. I tried to think of the wind as a net positive both coming and going: pushing me along like a sail at my back, and filling up my lungs like a ramjet at my front. I don’t think it really works like that. At least I wasn’t too warm? The wind blew my heat away.

I finally made my dive plans! I’m going to Florida in 2 weeks to chase giant grouper for a weekend. My friend who lives in Tampa is putting me up and even offered to drive me around so I won’t have to rent a car (she is really the best). And I’ve got a spot on a boat for 2 days, 4 tanks. So excited! Along with that, in May I’m planning to take a weekend, camp at a quarry, and get my Advanced Open Water along with a couple specialties. After that, I can go wreck diving in the Great Lakes this summer. All my plans are coming in clumps…

  1. Awesome, congrats on the dive trip! I don’t think I ever asked, who did you do your cert through? I did mine through NAUI, and I’d love to go back and get my advanced!
