Keep on dancing!

My schedule today is all wonky, with an early start because of meetings over my usual gym time. I’m grumpy after having to get up at 5:30am! But at least I was able to get in for a workout first thing, so I can have a good clear head for everything going on today (which includes a performance review, yuck).

There are two 5ks I’d like to run in the next few months– the first casual, the second more serious– so I’ve decided to get myself back into running condition, starting with 30 minutes plodding on the treadmill this morning. The plodding was made better by fresh running shoes, though! So nice. And I’m pleased that I can still plod for 30 minutes without walk breaks, despite it being a slog. I added another 15 minutes on the elliptical afterward to just exteeeend the cardio a little (hey liver, gonna need you to start stocking up on glycogen for long runs again, kthx).

One of my favorite parts of the wedding was having a DJ and a dance floor– I really do love to dance, and it was a great excuse to get out there (folks requested a bunch of mid-90s hip hop/R&B which made me very happy– my wedding needed some Biggie and Montell Jordan). The last couple hours of the reception I danced a ton! All my family and friends came out and boogied down with me. Of course the wine helped, but I was really pleased with my stamina that I was able to dance for hours and have a great time.

And for days afterwards everyone could not stop talking about how I was dancing all night. Isn’t that what you’re supposed to do? That’s why I paid all that money for the DJ!
