I debated what to work on at the gym today– everything from the back of my neck to my bum is pretty wrecked from the heavy DLs yesterday. I settled on a business-as-usual bench session just to keep the momentum going.
Bench – 2x5x135lb, 2x5x145lb, 1x155lb, 1x160lb
Accessory biceps, triceps, OHP, BO 1-arm row, weighted ball crunch, jackknife, plank
Foam roller, yoga
I asked one of the gym staff for a spot for the 160lb bench in case it got squirrely. It takes a little time to press up the 160lb ones but I haven’t had a problem getting it (and I’ll probably give 165lb a try next week). I lowered the weight, lifted it up to the sticky place, started working– and she interpreted my slowness as a failure and lifted it up for me. Noooo! I was like "I could’ve gotten that!" and she apologized. I should’ve told her that I’d ask for help if I needed it. Anyway, I tried it again and it went up fine on its own and we all felt better after that.
This weekend has some fun but time-consuming stuff going on… I kind of wish I was just able to sit at home playing video games instead. Saturday is supposed to be a Mother’s Day dinner thing for my MIL, and Sunday my cousin from Kansas is in town so we’re getting brunch and taking him around the tourist circuit. I really can’t complain because I don’t get to see him often and I’m looking forward to it! But I suspect it’s going to feel like a sprint all the way to leaving for the airport at 4am Monday. I should probably pack early.
