sometimes the right music makes a big difference

Had a good time in the weight room for 5×5-B this morning. Usually I put on metal when I lift but today I had on the new Gary Numan album– yes he’s still around, and it’s really good! My squats working sets were fueled by the #1 banger from the album, My Name is Ruin. I just kept re-starting the song when it finished.

I took some time this week to read up on form tips, because my body geometry is changing and at this reset while I’m building the lifts back up it’s a good time to really nail my form down. I realized that I’ve been setting up for deadlifts too far from the bar– it’s over my toes rather than close to my ankles like it should be. The extra moment might be why my lower back has had such an issue with DL. Today’s lifts– with the bar starting in the right place– felt good, though watching out for my shins and knees was new to me.

Squat – 2x5x45lb, 3x5x95lb (warmup), 5x5x125lb
OHP – 10x35lb, 10x45lb (warmup), 5x5x55lb
DL – 5x115lb, 5x135lb (warmup), 5x165lb

This is my last 5×5 in the work gym weight room for 2 weeks. I’m weighing options for continuing to workout on vacation…
