Early workout accomplished! I showed up to the weight room at 7am and the only person there was some bro deadlifting in the squat rack. At least he wasn’t doing curls. After that he bench pressed in the Smith machine which is right behind the other power rack so then he just had to stare at my back while I continued my session. The joys of a small weight room…
Squat – 2x5x45lb, 2x5x95lb, 2x5x115lb, 2x5x135lb, 5x5x165lb, 1x185lb, 1x195lb
Deadlift – 5x135lb, 5x205lb, 1x245lb
The downside of trading off running and powerlifting is that my hips are pretty much permanently jacked up. The lower back pain I feel is also hip tightness/inflammation. I’ve been trying hard to give it a good foam roll and stretch but I suspect what it really needs along with the stretching is some rest. And a proper massage probably wouldn’t hurt. (Ask me about all the interesting feels all round my hips when I do a high lunge…)
Today’s agenda includes plenty of meetings. My least favorite one is going to be at 11, where I meet with my great-grand-boss and he’s going to ask "what progress did you make on this thing I asked you to do?" and I’m going to say "not much really." Usually I meet with my boss today too and I need to communicate to him how utterly swamped I am right now and ask for help. He’s out sick, though, so no help is coming.
